Kaka Point (Nugget Point) to Curio Bay

Had enough Kaka so heading further south. If kaka weren't enough, we woke to pissing rain. We took the dirt road back to the main road and then the climbfest began. Many, many winding climbs that you thought surely would end at the next bend...nope rooky. It was through some beautiful forested areas but we were wet and weary. 54 miles, hard miles, thighburners, rumproasters, kneeknockers, gutbusters, mindtwisters, tearjerkers...serenity now! We made it to Niagara, complete with falls for a bite to eat and then another ten kms to Curio Bay Campground.

We were rewarded for our efforts by more yellow-eyed penguins making their way from sea to shore to meet their mates and chicks. The bay in which they come ashore is amazing. The sea is so powerful and dynamic that it only magnifies the struggle that these penguins are making for their survival. We saw three come out of the sea and another two happy males come down to greet them. It put smiles on our faces. Again we have pics that look like a beach even though they are of a penguin. We will have to zoom them in. That evening we walked around the cape in awe of the waves crashing on the rocks and the kelp holding tight and swirling like the hair of medusa. We were experiencing the magic we seek.
