We need to get on the road!
Finally, on Monday, January 7th we hitched a ride from Mieke de Jong who so generously drove Paul and I north of Auckland to a small beach town called Orewa. Orewa is super windy, perfect for wind surfing, kite surfing, and sand sailing. There we popped up our tent for the night at the local Top 10 Holiday Park and got ourselves oriented. Tomorrow would be the first day on the bike and it was time to prepare ourselves. We fattened ourselves up with dinner and ginger beer, attempted to play a card game...but we couldn't think of any so we made up our own version (Paul's version) of "Fish". Lame, I know.
