Russell to Auckland

Saturday, January 12th we hopped back on the bus and headed south on the North Island back down to Auckland. It's time to assess our gear. We have too much and need to dump some stuff. I think it's time to get rid of the microwave and kitchen sink, Paul. We've only used it once.

You're probably thinking...isn't this a cycling tour? Why have they only logged 85 miles? Trust me, you'd be doing the same thing.

We've booked our bus trip from Auckland to Rotorua tomorrow. Rotorua's like Yellowstone National Park in the states. More details to come...oh, and yea...more biking to come!

Thanks for checking our blog! We miss everyone!

...Yea, a cycling tour. What dear Pavlo and Mari aren't saying is that it's going to become a MOTO-cycling tour. They've traded in those sweet touring bikes for a nice Dakar BMW twin 1000 motorbike. Bring on the rain and hills, baby. We miss you guys...

Okay, so Paul and I are redeaming ourselves! On the bike today without packs to check out Rotorua. Most likely we'll be biking the rest of our way down to Wellington...possibly taking a train down the west side of the north island. We'd like to get down to the South Island relatively soon...this place is saturated with tourism. They charge you for everything.

We'll get Paul on the blog to get his point of view. I already heard it from him today..."Hey, I noticed the blog said 6 mph...but my avg.on my computer read 9 mph." I must clarify...although I think exaggeration lends itself to entertainment!

Thanks for posting comments! It's good to hear from you guys! Wish you were here so we could experience this stuff together. We miss everyone!

Hey, yea, Paul and Marijo, yea, yea, yea, that's it. Yea, we were going to get together before you left for your trip in a few days. Looks like a few days was last month.... Whew, where is the time?

So good to see you in Kiwi land. It is fantastic. I look forward to reading the entire blog soon. Do everything and take it all in. Remember, life is peaks and valleys!!!

Keep up the good,

Sam I Am.

Be still my jealous, beating heart. Cycling NZ is something that has always sounded amazing. My older bros did a trip there 20 years ago and had great stories to tell. I'm looking forward to the next installment of your tale to tell. One thing, though, I gotta have more pictures with the styrofoam helmet and glasses!
