Havelock to Nelson - Look Mom...No Hands!

Thursday, January 24th - 2 grueling climbs with two amazing descents! Onward to Nelson...the wine better be good.

Met up with Cindy and Tim from Prescott, Arizona who have been cycling since 2002. Thanks to Tim and Cindy we sat down and had a full-on "real" conversation. You'll have to check out their website at http://www.downtheroad.org/ and view all they've done. No way we can describe everything. I'm sure they would appreciate your support and comments. Upon departure Tim, Cindy, Paul, and Marijo rode single-file for 8 miles into Nelson. Talk about taking up the road...it was awesome! Ortlieb everywhere...

Thanks Cindy and Tim for taking some time to talk and ride with us. We truly enjoyed it! Next time we cycle tour we'll be joining the Warm Shower scene as well.

We've found Nelson to be quite relaxing even without wine. Although they do distill their own schnapp's here and have found that to be a great night cap. Taking in their farmer's market, nightly outdoor movies, and history. We tried to do a wine tour on our bikes yesterday and couldn't find any of the wineries! We did find one, Waimea and got a good bottle of Sauvignon Blanc...went well with salt & vinegar chips while watching "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" in Isel Park last night. Met another couple from Ontario that joined us.

Outstanding update! Glad you guys are having fun. Nice downhills with excellent views to cruise down it looks like, gotta work that TdF down hill tuck though.

Those beachs in the other update look like a place to camp on for a month or two and just go native. And your passing them by.
